...that we've finally signed Fernades.

After a long drawn out process, with rumours abound that the shite were about to do a Sissoko on us again, Everton have finally secured the signing of Benfica midfielder Manuel Fernandes.

The 20-year-old Portuguese international has joined the Blues on loan until the end of the season but it is doubtful that he will remain with club beyond that as he has has just signed a new deal with Benfica that will keep him there until 2011.

Which is a bit strange!

But the details of his registration are even stranger as the Premier League blocked an attempt by Everton to sign Fernandes on a permanent basis as a Portuguese investment fund has a 50 per cent stake in the player.

The Premier League would not be happy with Everton owning only half of his registration but, as part-ownership of players appears to be coming more and more commonplace on the continent, the Premier League may not be able to block such deals for much longer.

There's bound to be an unprecidented court case in the non-too-distant future that will resolve the issue.

Probably just in time for the shite to swoop in and sign Fernandes...or even Javier Mascherano as they are having similar problems in trying to get him from West Ham.

Everton have also been linked with Hibernian's 22-year-old full back Steven Whittaker.

The defender has played 116 league games for Hibs, has scored three goals and is said to be available for around £250,000.

Hopefully his ligaments won't be made of cheese strings like every other full back we have on the books.
