Everton's head coach David Moyes elected to play Richard Wright in goal ahead of USA international Tim Howard and started with Victor Anichebe and, South African trialist, Delron Buckley in offence.

Columbus Crew took the lead in the first third of the first period when Sebastian Rozenthal hit a shot from the edge of the 18 yard zone that flew into the goal faster than a patriot missile.

But the Everton Toffees equalized on 33 minutes through Victor Anichebe who scored his third goal in four pre-season matches.

Chad Marshall lost the ball to Kevin Kilbane who played the ball to Buckley. He then flicked it on to Anichebe who rifled his shot past Bill Gaudette in the Columbus Crew goal.

The young Nigerian striker could have scored three but hit the post with one effort and then couldn't convert an open goal chance after Gaudette went wandering from his goal before turning the ball over.

The sides changed ends for the start of the second period and Columbus Crew changed teams as they introduced 11 substitutes.

Everton Toffees replaced Wright with Tim Howard, Alan Stubbs with David Weir and Patrick Boyle with Alessandro Pistone.

Everton's head coach also took Tim Cahill off for Simon Davies and Anichebe made way for James Beattie.

The second half period was scrappy as a result and the Everton Toffees looked the most likely winners but Buckley and Beattie both missed chances.

The game ended 1-1 with no overtime played.

Columbus Crew will now continue with their MLS campaign as they play Chicago Fire in the windy city on Saturday.

They hope to go ahead of the Fire at the bottom of the Eastern Conference as the teams head into the all-star break.

The next stop for the Everton Toffees is Pizza Hut Park in Dallas where they will play Club America - World Police.

And, news just in, experienced Everton Toffees midfielder, Lee Carsley, has apparently stayed in the UK to talk to the Wolverhampton Wolves over a possible transfer to middle England.
