Psycho praises Rodwell

But, unfortunately, the story is not about Pat van den Hauwe becoming the new face of Viagra.

Nor is it about the Yorkshire Ripper being impressed with what he's seen of Rodwell on his box in Broadmoor.

The story is, in fact, nothing more than Stuart Pearce waxing lyrical about our teenage starlet, because that's what he'll be getting called if he keeps this England lark up, on his goalscoring appearance for England U21's.

Rodwell was given a place in Pearce's starting eleven and capped a mature display with the equalising goal in last night's 1-1 draw with Germany.

England are now in the semi fianls of the UEFA Under 21 Championship and Pearce thinks that Rodwell can step up and cement his place in the first eleven.

Pearce said: "The Rodwells of this world look like they can take anything on. He was beyond his years. I told him three weeks ago I need to hear his voice more and I have heard him more and more.

He added: "Performances like that will come from it. He's quiet but strong mentally. Every day he has flourished more and more."

So it looks like those 'Peter Sutcliffe is an Evertonian' songs are going to have to be put on hold.

Pat van den Hauwe models Everton's 2010/11 kit whilst Kenny Sansom models a perfectly square torso!
