Crocked!

The big news is that, after scoring a peach and putting in his best performance for quite some time at the weekend, Leon Osman has been ruled out of the match at Portsmouth on Saturday.

The midfielder-that-is-not-actually-as-young-as-everyone-thinks-he-is was replaced with David Weir after 82 minutes of the West Ham game due to a hamstring strain.

And, although Osman has been receiving treatment on it since Sunday, he is expected to miss the weekend's trip to Fratton Park.

But don't worry folks because Simon Davies is set to return to the squad, no doubt in a(nother) bid to prove to everyone that he can do a job for us.

Mikel Arteta looks set to be out for a couple of weeks after he mistook his foot for a pitching wedge and crocked his ankle.

Over to Everton physio Baz Rathbone: "He [Arteta] kicked the ground and took a hell of a chunk out of the ground”

Which no doubt left the groundsman beating the turf in despair and crying like the Rancor keeper in Return of the Jedi after Luke Skywalker had webbed his monster everywhere.

Or maybe not…

Phil Neville also missed the West Ham match through injury and not suspension as was being mooted at the game.

The better looking Neville brother has got medial ligament damage and will undergo a fitness test towards the end of the week.

Victor Anichebe also missed Sunday's game with a knee injury, or, as David Moyes put it: “He has got a sore knee”.

Which makes the more paternal side of me want to give him a cup of tea, a Kit Kat and the box set of Curb Your Enthusiasm (series four) and sit him on the couch until it stops feeling sore.

I'll get me coat…
