The French defender is entering the final 12 months of his current contract but manager David Moyes is keen to keep hold of the 33-year-old.

'A new deal is something we will look at in the summer,' Moyes confirmed. 'Sylvain has played all the games, he trains all the time and that is a big thing. He has been an excellent signing.'

Everton striker Louis Saha, meanwhile, is wanted by Vancouver Whitecaps. The Canadian side were keen in January but were rebuffed and will return in the summer.

However, the 32-year-old former Manchester United man wants to stay in England.
