Following the disappointment of the dramatic Merseyside derby, Everton host a Newcastle side managed by former Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez.
The man who once dubbed Everton 'a small club' could see his side slip back into the relegation zone with defeat whilst Everton will look to close the increasing gap on the top five which stands at eight points.

The Magpies have scored the third fewest goals in the Premier League this season - only netting 11 times with centre-back Ciaran Clark their joint leading goalscorer with two goals alongside
Everton, whilst by no means prolific this season, have netted almost twice as many as Newcastle, thanks to the in-form Brazilian Richarlison's

Meanwhile, Everton are without James McCarthy until the new year following his double-leg break in January.
Ademola Lookman has impressed in recent cameo roles and is certainly deserving of a chance to start. Theo Walcott limped out of Sunday's Merseyside derby meaning Lookman could well get his chance on Wednesday.

Head to Head Record
It's the Merseyside outfit who have the better record in this fixture. In 68 encounters between the two clubs, Everton have won 32 compared to Newcastle's 21 victories.

In fact, the Toffees have beaten Benitez's men in their past five meetings - something Newcastle have failed to do since 1960. The Tyneside club recorded their last victory over Everton back in December 2014 when a certain Samuel Eto'o was leading the line for the visitors at St. James' Park.
The biggest victory in this fixture belongs to Newcastle, who back in 1959 condemned Everton to a 8-2 defeat on Tyneside.

Prediction
Both teams come into the game off the back of confidence-denting losses, arguably Everton the more bitter having lost in such remarkable circumstances against arch rivals Liverpool.

Liverpool may be red at present, and the Toffees still licking their wounds, but they should have the quality to overcome a Newcastle side who simply don't know where the goal is.
It could be a close encounter but the Magpies just lack that clinical edge and Everton, having made Liverpool look fairly average at times, should come away with all three points.
Prediction: Everton 2-0 Newcastle
