Everton striker Louis Saha is set to return to training with the club next week.

The 32-year-old has been receiving treatment for a calf problem and working on his fitness in his native France.

Saha, Everton's top goalscorer last season with 15, has not played since the Barclays Premier League defeat at Aston Villa five weeks ago.

Returning: Louis Saha hasn't played since losing at Aston Villa five weeks ago

Manager David Moyes said: 'He is away at his camp in France and I'm hoping he'll return at the start of next week.

'I'm hoping when he returns he'll be ready to start training.'

With no fixture next week due to the international break, Saha could therefore work towards a possible return in the Merseyside derby against Liverpool on October 17. Birmingham v EVERTON: Tony Hibbert could feature as David Moyes seeks first winAston Villa and Everton eyeing £5m move for Belgium hotshot VossenBIRMINGHAM v Everton: Top scorer Craig Gardner banned with Keith Fahey set for recallEVERTON FC
