Heung-min Son & André Gomes Share Heartwarming Messages After Everton Stars Horror Injury

Tottenham Hotspur forward Heung-min Son and Everton midfielder André Gomes have both sent out touching messages following the latter's horrific ankle injury on Sunday.

A rash challenge from the South Korean led to an awkward fall for his counterpart during the 2-2 draw between the two sides at Goodison Park, resulting in an ankle fracture dislocation for the Toffees man. Fans and players alike were visibly distraught by the incident, but Gomes is set to make a full recovery having undergone successful surgery at the start of the week.

Son was among the scorers as Spurs defeated Red Star Belgrade 4-0 in the Champions League on Wednesday night, with the 27-year-old appearing to apologise for his role in the event after netting against the Serbians.

In a post-match interview following the Group B clash, the Tottenham star clarified his gesture, saying (as quoted by 101 Great Goals): "I didn’t want to celebrate [scoring against Red Star]. I just want to respect the situation.

"I still feel really, really sorry about this situation. It’s been a few really, really hard days. I realise how lucky I am…I wish André Gomes gets well soon. Best wishes."

There is evidently no bad blood between the pair in light of a recent video posted by the Everton playmaker on Instagram, who captioned the upload with a message thanking supporters for their unconditional support.

In the clip, Gomes explained his current condition, saying: "Hi everyone. As you already know everything went well. I'm already at home with my family. I would like to thank you all for the support, messages and the positive energy. Thank you."

Though Son was dismissed after VAR examined his tackle, the FA have since rescinded the red card. As a result, he will be available for the Lilywhites Premier League meeting with Sheffield United on Saturday.
