And, hopefully, that ‘elsewhere' will be Goodison Park and Everton will make his move permanent in January.

The on loan stopper has conceded that his chances will be limited at Old Trafford as Manchester United have just given, first choice ‘keeper, Edwin van der Sar a one year extension to his current deal.

And, with Tomasz Kuszczak currently acting as cover for the Dutchman and Ben Foster on loan at Watford, the chances are going to be limited for Howard.

The American international made it clear that he will not accept being a bench warmer for anyone and wants first team football.

Howard said: "I don't do very well on the bench, to be honest. You need someone who accepts that position and doesn't rock the boat. It's not in my blood because I like a little bit of fire.

Which is good news for Everton!
