MATCH PREVIEW

It's the midpoint of Stoke's third season in the Premier League and despite sitting in 10th position, it appears manager Tony Pulis is wanting more from his current crop of players. Not even Jermaine Pennant escaped the wrath of his boss, despite earning himself a permanent £2.8m move after a successful loan spell.

We expect him (Jermaine Pennant) to continue playing as well as he's done on loan. I spoke to him and told him he's been a wonderful acquisition for this football club, but it's no good signing a contract and then taking his foot off the pedal

Tony Pulis, Stoke manager

The Stoke boss has come out all guns blazing after seeing his side slip to a second successive home defeat. Their insipid display against Fulham last time out also represented back-to-back matches without a goal at the Britannia Stadium.

Pulis has warned his squad of a potential January cull as he plots the next phase of the club's development back in the top flight. He will consider bids for any of his current squad in a bid to keep things fresh, including Ryan Shawcross, although only a substantial fee would convince the Potters' board to part with their blossoming captain.

Visitors Everton are one of the few sides to have enjoyed playing against Stoke since the Potters' promotion in 2008. David Moyes' side are unbeaten in the five Premier League matches played between the clubs, including October's reverse fixture at Goodison Park, when Yakubu scored the only goal in a 1-0 win.

The Toffees have been enjoying life on the road this season; they are undefeated in eight games - a new Premier League best for the club. What will please Moyes most is the spirit and determination within his side, who have taken points from losing positions in four of their last five away matches.
